Water bodies on Srinagar outskirts become new haunts for people to cool off amid heatwave | KNO

Srinagar, Jul 05 (KNO): With summer heat intensifying, water bodies on the outskirts of Srinagar have become popular destinations for locals and tourists seeking relief from the scorching temperatures. In the last few weeks since mercury crossed average temperature, Nishat, Harwan and Dara among others have seen a significant influx of visitors, all looking for a cool and relaxing environment. The refreshing waters and beautiful surroundings are proving to be the perfect escape from the heat. As per the details collected by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Nishat, long admired for its historic Mughal gardens, is now also known for its inviting water body. A local Shahzan said Nishat has always been their favourite spot for picnics and now it’s the perfect place to cool off and enjoy the natural beauty. Harwan, with its beautiful reservoir and lush green surroundings has become another favourite spot. Najeeb, a local from the area, said the number of visitors has increased significantly, as the summer heat is intensifying. Nabeel from Sonwar said the water at Harwan is cold and refreshing. “We come here every three to four days a week and swim here,” he said. Similarly, Dara, known for its beautiful landscapes, is also attracting many nature lovers. Sajad, who visits frequently, said that Dara is simply stunning. “The water is cool, and the natural beauty is breathtaking. It’s the perfect place to relax and escape the heat,” he added. In the meantime, there is no end in sight to the heatwave in Kashmir with Srinagar recording the hottest July day at 35.7 degrees Celsius in 25 years on Thursday—(KNO)
